You will usually find Margriet Zwart with her daughter Zaia on one hip, and a paint brush in the other sitting on the studio floor of her cafe creating artwork that shouts vitality and joy.
Margriet is a multilingual, multifaceted creator, entreupener, artist, yogi, mother, Canadian born surfer currently residing out of Costa Rica.
Before opening Zwart Cafe in Santa Teresa, Margriet graduated with distinction from fine art schools in both Toronto and Vancouver, spent a decade as a flight attendant and traveled the world feveriously.
Margriet keeps busy creating paintings that are filled with unappologetic colour, youth, humour, chaos and the playful fun we sometimes forget as grown ups.
She recently illustrated a children's book called "Dot and the Waves" written by local author Josie Green, that weaves a story of a young English girls journey of self discovery, magic and fascination with the sea.
